As you can see from the below map, the Caldor Fire is working its way toward the Tahoe Camp where I have reservations, which is just 20 miles below Donner State Park. Not a good omen for my trip.
OnTheRoad.camp (OTR11.blogspot.com) This is my 11th long road camping trip with my dogs (Donner, this trip, his fourth) across North America . Trip will start on or about Sept 12. We will take the Donner Party route out (photo above is of part of the Donner Party, more or less)
RE photo: I had no idea the Donner party used German Shepherds to pull their wagons???? No wonder it took so long.
